Hello everyone,
Welcome to my first blog post! As the title suggests, I’ll be sharing my experience as an engineering student and providing some insights into this journey.
I’m currently in my second year of Computer Science Engineering. After completing my first year, I’ve realized that engineering education isn’t quite what I had envisioned. The reality of life in an engineering college differs significantly from outside perceptions.
Initially, I expected to delve deep into computer architecture, advanced algorithms, and their practical applications. However, I’ve found that the Indian education system tends to emphasize memorization and includes subjects that seem disconnected from our core field of study - subjects that may have little relevance to our future industry roles.
One aspect I genuinely appreciate about engineering colleges is their initiative to organize various seminars and workshops. These events provide valuable insights into industry trends and technological advancements. The tech seminars, in particular, have been incredibly enlightening.
Throughout my first year, these seminars and workshops stood out as the most valuable learning experiences. I’ve come to realize that for those interested in acquiring industry-relevant skills, self-directed learning through online resources can be incredibly beneficial.
While my first year may not have met all my expectations, I understand that this is just the beginning of my engineering journey. Though the academic experience hasn’t been exactly what I anticipated, I still find joy in studying engineering and remain enthusiastic about the field. I’d love to hear about your experiences too - feel free to reach out to me via email.
Best regards,
